Howard Schatz

Underwater photography is cool. Taking this picture on land would be hard enough, just imaging being underwater.

H2O, Schatz's seventeenth book of photographs, is the third in his series of explorations of imagery made on, over and underwater. Published in the fall of 2007, it is a breathtaking feat of underwater photography and a visionary celebration of movement and form... To read more click here.

Steve McCurry

Steve McCurry is an amazing photographer for National Geographic. Before I was even interested in photography this photo of the Afghan girl caught my interest. Her eyes are so beautiful.

Who Doesn't Love Legos?

Charles C. Ebbets was a photographer who took this very well known photograph during the construction of the Rockefeller Center in New York in 1932.
Mike Stimpson photographs legos. Thats about it. His lighting technique is great.

To the Taxidermist

On my most recent trip to the taxidermist, I was able to photograph the skinning of a fox squirrel. Pretty gross right? Oh and it was, but it was still cool. I chose to photography taxidermy for my photo essay in photojournalism and I'm so glad that I did. The guys there are so awesome and are more than happy to help me out with this project. Not that they have to do much, just their jobs. I have also learned some interesting things while doing this. Maybe a new hobby... maybe not.

Ty-Dye Friday

Black Friday... I think not. Its Ty-Dye Friday! Ty-Dye is such a cool thing and I found a tutorial on how to recreate it on photoshop. I can't wait to try it out.

Best Interview Ever

Jessica interviewing me on school and what not.

HolIday Portraits 2.0

Photoshop or not? We had fun in the studio, because that is what we do. Come join the fun!

War

In photojournalism we recently watched a video about the photographer James Nachtwey. He is an awesome photographer and focuses on war photography. The video is very emotional and graphic.

A film about the American photographer James Nachtwey, about his motivation, his fears and his daily routine as a war photographer. If we believe Hollywood pictures, war photographers are all hard-boiled and cynical old troopers.

10th Year Wedding Anniversary

Tonight I had the privilege of celebrating the 10th year wedding anniversary of some very close friends of mine. I have known them for just about 6 years now. It was a lot of fun. And of course I took pictures.

How to Change the Size of your Audio Player

Are you interested in changing the size of that black box for your interview? It's simple. Below is the original code. I changed the height to "60". Make sure its in both places. Try different heights and widths. If you want to get rid of the black box all together, change the height to "20".

My interview with Jessica

I did an interview with Jessica Cargle.

Environmental Portrait

In class, one of our assignments is to shoot an environmental portrait. Erik Almas has some really great examples on his website.

Holiday Portraits

Today was my first out of three days shooting for holiday portraits. We had absolutely no one come in from 6-8. It was good to practice though, so I can't complain to much. For times and dates check out our holiday portraits blog!

New Fav

After googling surreal photography I came across Frank Uyttenhove. What to say... I love it. I think he is my new favorite photographer, for the rest of the week at least. He photographs are very unique and unlike most others.

Taxidermy Tuesday

Not quite what I had in mind, but something interesting I though I would share. I plan on shooting a taxidermist for photojournalism. Don't know exactly how it's going to play out yet. Check out Sarina Brewer's site. It's crazy.

Citrus

I love stumbling across random photographers on the web. This photo is by Evy Johansen. It reminded me of my fruit assignment with the 4 x 5 camera.

Time Lapse

Time Lapse has always been very interesting to me. You can do it through video or by just taking pictures. This video is nice and short, and gets the idea out. Perhaps someday I will do something like this.

Atlanta Time

Today I went down to Atlanta with some class mates trying to find something post-election-y to shoot for photojournalism. To say the least, it was very uneventful. Rode the marta for a while, even to the airport... and nothing. Though I did get this shot of a baby sleeping. Cuteness. If only he were wearing an Obama button or something.

Post-Election

Tomorrow I will be heading down to Atlanta to capture the post-election for my photojournalism class. I don't know what will happen, but if anything is going down I hope I am there when it does. If you don't hear from me in a few days you will know why.

Wildlife Photographer of the Year

The winners have been announced for the 2008 Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition, hosted by the Natural History Museum in London and the BBC Wildlife Magazine.

The breathtaking images include chimps fighting over a bushpig, a snake and a frog in deadlock, and an encounter with a 14 metre long whale...

Photoshop CS4 Review

Photoshop CS4 is the 11th version of Adobe's venerable and industry-standard imaging application. It's hard to imagine that Adobe can continue to make large changes to Photoshop. It seems that just about everything but the kitchen sink is already in the application, but once again, Adobe has found ways to take a mature application and improve it... Click here to read on.

I found out about Michael in my photojournalism class. His pictures moved me.
